For 5 years I used a manual Commandante but never got a satisfying extraction from the ROK. First grinding was quite a muscular exercice for me as a woman and I believe my way of holding the grinder on a diagonale to ease the work had an influence on the grinding regularity. As a consequence I would never get the same expresso and it felt like making a good coffee was quite unforgiving. The ROK grinder is changing my perspective on this! Be it with an espresso or a ristretto, I get a balanced taste and subtle flavours! I’m really blown away by the difference it makes! First it is a pleasure for the senses to use and makes so much more sense to me in terms of gesture and posture. Second, I can get my coffee grinded in minutes with so much ease! I don’t even bother weighing my beans anymore as the mark on the grinder is working just fine!

I found the ROK Grinder was better than Niche Zero (at over twice the RRP) in both taste and extraction. I used Linear Binary Patterns (LBP) to describe the particles, and then I used K-means Clustering to classify them. The ROK grinder produces better grounds above 500 microns than the Niche Zero.

I’ve had a ROK a coffee grinder and espresso maker for over 10 yrs. It has had daily use and makes excellent espresso coffee. I needed some new gear wheels for the grinder which were reasonably priced, they arrived promptly and were easy to fit. I can highly comment the ROK set-up

My husband has a ROK expresso machine already, and wanted a coffee grinder. He wakes up very early in the morning and doesn't want to use an electric grinder which is loud and wake up the whole house. He also had bad experiences with electric grinders in the past. It allows you to adjust the grain-size to exactly what you need to make different kinds of coffee (from Turkish coffee to plunger and percolators). It may take a bit of experimentation to find the best setting for each kind of coffee-maker but once you have found the right setting, the results are wonderfully predicable and constant.

I was pretty pleased with the product as it’s just what I was after. I think it’s a little expensive but it is well built and works really well. The consistency of the grinding is really good and I’m happy with this. It’s pretty easy to use and operate. I love the bamboo cup it comes with. My only issue is adjusting the grind size. The turn mechanism comes loose too easily so it’s hard to count the turns and work out what number you are on. I find turning the handle after each turn helps it click into place. Overall I’m glad I bought the product and I’ve been making great coffee since using it and it’s a nice experience to manually grind your own beans.

Good and well built product overall. The gind size adjustment wheel sometimes falls off and the sticky rubber base isn‘t as sticky as advertised. Not sure if it‘s only my unit, but it isn‘t that big of a deal. I got used it. More importantly, the grinds are even and make great coffee. Thanks.

It does waste some of your coffee grind regardless of how you use it, and the cup requires the extra dosing funnel for sure, which only makes the process more complex, as well as the purchase price higher. Overall, the grinder does the job, and feels durable, which is good given that it costs more than the ROK itself. It's a nice looking piece in your kitchen, along with the ROK.
